Management strategy for melanoma patients is constantly evolving. Ever since D.L. Morton described sentinel node biopsy, its place in melanoma management is being continuously studied and discussed. Metastasis through the lymphatic system is a complex cascade of processes. Plenty of factors can influence it: patient’s age, localization of the primary tumor, depth of invasion, etc. In this review, we consider clinical value and advisability of sentinel node biopsy, including the evolution of indications for it.References
